Privacy Policy

Argus is an AI front office for home-services contractors. It connects to a business's email, calendar, and phone number, reads incoming customer enquiries, and drafts or sends replies, books estimates, and tracks each enquiry as a lead. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and how to get it deleted.
This policy covers meetargus.io and the Argus web and mobile applications (together, the "Service"), operated by Argus Intelligence Inc. ("we", "us").
Who the data is about
Two different groups of people appear in Argus, and it matters which is which:
- Our customers — the contractor or business that signs up, connects their mailbox, and pays us. They are the account holder.
- Their customers — the homeowners and businesses who email, call, or text our customer. We process this information on our customer's behalf, as their service provider. If you are one of these people and want your information removed, contact the business you were dealing with, or write to us at hello@meetargus.io and we will route the request.
What we collect
Account information
Your name, email address, and profile picture, received from Google or Microsoft when you sign in. We never receive or store your Google or Microsoft password.
Email data from your connected mailbox
With your authorisation, we read messages in the mailbox you connect (Gmail via the Gmail API, or Outlook via Microsoft Graph) in order to identify customer enquiries and respond to them. This includes message content, subject lines, sender and recipient addresses, timestamps, labels or folders, and attachments. We create drafts and send replies from your mailbox when you enable that, and we apply labels to keep the mailbox organised.
Contacts
We read the list of addresses you have previously corresponded with ("other contacts") so that address fields in the Service can autocomplete. We do not import, store, or upload your full contact list as a standalone address book.
Calendar
We read your calendar's free/busy information and time zone to find open appointment slots, and we create events when an estimate is booked. We read event details only as needed to determine availability and to manage the appointments the Service creates.
Business profile and knowledge base
Information you enter about your business — trading name, hours, service area, pricing and warranty policies, licence number, and contact details — plus any documents you upload to the knowledge base so the assistant can answer questions accurately. Licence numbers are encrypted at rest.
Phone, text, and voice
If you use an Argus phone number or forward your existing line to us, we process inbound and outbound call audio, call transcripts, voicemail recordings and their transcriptions, text message content, and the phone numbers involved. Where the AI voice agent answers a live call, the call audio is streamed to our speech provider in real time so the agent can hear and respond.
Recording and transcribing calls is regulated differently from place to place, and some jurisdictions require every party on the call to be notified or to consent. You are responsible for making any disclosure the law requires of you where you operate. The assistant will tell a caller it is an AI if asked, and it never claims to be human.
Lead and customer records
Names, phone numbers, email addresses, service addresses, and the substance of the enquiry for the customers who contact you, together with the appointments, quotes, and messages associated with each.
Billing
Subscription status and billing history. Payments are handled by Stripe; card numbers go directly to Stripe and are never stored on our systems.
Technical and usage data
Log data, error reports, and per-request usage counts we use to monitor cost and reliability.
How your Google user data is used
Argus's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, we do not:
- use Google user data for advertising, or transfer it to advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers;
- sell Google user data;
- use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalised artificial intelligence or machine learning models; or
- allow humans to read Google user data, except with your explicit permission for specific messages, where necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse, to comply with applicable law, or where the data has been aggregated and anonymised.
We use Google user data only to provide and improve the features you have signed up for: reading enquiries, drafting and sending replies from your mailbox, organising it with labels, and scheduling appointments on your calendar.
We request the narrowest scopes that let the product work. Each one maps to a feature you can see: reading messages so enquiries can be identified and answered, sending so replies leave your address rather than ours, labels so your inbox stays organised, calendar so estimates can be booked, and contacts so address fields autocomplete.
The same commitments apply to data we receive from Microsoft Graph.
Artificial intelligence and your data
Argus uses large language models to classify enquiries and draft replies. To do this, the relevant message content and the business context you have supplied are sent to our AI providers for processing. These providers act as our processors: under our agreements with them, they process this content solely to return a result to us, and they do not use it to train their models.
We do not use your mailbox content, your customers' messages, or your call audio to train any model of our own.
The assistant drafts text. Whether a draft is sent automatically or held for your approval is a setting you control, and you can turn automatic sending off at any time.
Who we share data with
We do not sell personal information. We share it only with the service providers we need to run the product, each bound to use it solely to provide their service to us:
- Amazon Web Services — hosting, databases, and file storage (United States).
- Anthropic — the language models that classify enquiries and draft replies. Does not train on our data.
- OpenAI — the real-time speech model behind the AI voice agent. Does not train on our data.
- Twilio — phone numbers, calls, voicemail, and text messaging.
- Google Maps Platform — converting service addresses into coordinates for service-area checks and route planning.
- Stripe — subscription billing and payment processing.
We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of our users or the public. If we are ever involved in a merger or acquisition, we will give notice before personal information becomes subject to a different policy.
Where data is held
The Service runs in the United States. If you access it from elsewhere, your information is transferred to and processed in the United States.
How long we keep it
- Mailbox content, leads, messages, and call records are retained while your account is active, so the assistant has the history it needs to answer well.
- When you disconnect a mailbox, we stop accessing it immediately and delete the stored access tokens.
- When you close your account, we delete your account data within 30 days, except where we must keep records to meet a legal or accounting obligation.
- You can delete individual leads, documents, and messages at any time from within the Service.
How it is protected
- All traffic is encrypted in transit with TLS, and data is encrypted at rest.
- Mailbox access and refresh tokens are encrypted with a separate key before being stored.
- Access to production systems is restricted to personnel who need it and is audit-logged.
- Secrets are held in a managed secret store, never in source code.
No system is perfectly secure, but if a breach affects your information we will notify you and any regulator the law requires, without undue delay.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect at any time. Remove a mailbox in the Service, or revoke our access directly at myaccount.google.com/permissions (Google) or myapps.microsoft.com (Microsoft).
- Access, correction, and deletion. Write to us and we will provide a copy of your data or delete it.
- Turn features off. Automatic sending, the voice agent, and text messaging are each individually switchable.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights — for example under the GDPR or the CCPA — including the right to object to processing, to portability, and to complain to a supervisory authority. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.
Children
The Service is a business tool and is not directed to anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We will post any change here and update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we handle your information, we will tell you before it takes effect.
